I first saw Chrissie in June with 2 other young cats and a raccoon in Ault Park. I started feeding them as they were hungry and very friendly. I believe they were all abandoned house cats because of their willingness to be touched. Over the course of the summer and fall, I rescued two and placed them. Chrissie was the last one left.

When I first met her, I saw her from the back and thought she was a raccoon - stripes, bushy tail, etc. Then I realized only one of them was a raccoon. As time passed, I noticed the raccoon started acting like a cat. They all came out together to eat in broad daylight!

I named her Chrissie because on one snowy November morning, she ran out of the bushes when she heard me coming and paused - one leg in the air - looked around at the snow - and proceeded to come toward me. In that instant, coming out of the bushes, she looked like a Christmas tree. The snow was on the tips of her wet fur.

The most prominent trait of Chrissie is that no matter how hungry she must have been, she always wanted to be pet and scratched first. She would do a little dance between my feet like a Figure 8 and I had to pet her for awhile before she would eat. It seems like love was a lot more important than food. She had been all alone out there in the park since September.

She is one-year old, has tested negative, has been spayed and vaccinated. She is beautiful and very fluffy with silver, tan, grey and black in her coat. She resembles a Maine Coon. Her one imperfection is her tail. It seems to make a left turn. The vet said she had an injury to it, and it would never be straight. That turn in her tail makes her even more beautiful. She is in love with her cat brush. She will let me brush without stopping which seems like forever. She is gentle and has fallen asleep on my lap and is a virtual purring machine. Because she lived with two other cats and a raccoon, I feel safe in saying she gets along with other cats.
